The Spiritual Journey and Sacred Vocation: A Centering Prayer Retreat

This retreat will feature inspiring content on Centering Prayer, interspersed with wisdom about discerning our spiritual callings. We will become conscious of our own vocational stirrings, knowing that this can mean something inner (how we are called to change of heart), something outer (offering ourselves in service), and even something collective. We will integrate special inspiration from spiritual seekers who have heard a call and answered it, explore and share what is stirring within us, and come away deepened, affirmed and inspired. The retreat will include multiple and extended Centering Prayer sessions and will be in full silence apart from some sharing in the learning sessions.

 An online session about the method of Centering Prayer will be available on Wednesday, July 15 from 7 -8:30 p.m. for those who are preparing for the retreat and wish to learn or refresh their awareness about the method of holding silence.

 Liz Rees is a presenter of Centering Prayer, commissioned by Contemplative Outreach. She guides Centering Prayer in Calgary with Hillhurst United Church. She is a trained Eco Minister, Deeptime Leader and Life Skills Coach. Liz’s spiritual road has included studying and teaching meditation, refugee accompaniment in Central America, creating and leading transformational youth programs, and guiding contemplation in the Christian tradition. Liz has a burning love of the mystic path and a call to guide others to their own sacred hearts.

Mary Jane Yates
Mary Jane is an experienced practitioner and commissioned presenter of Centering Prayer. She has led numerous retreats in the Edmonton area and serves the international community through both on-line training and in-person events. She holds an MSc in Health Promotion and is trained as a Nature & Forest Therapy guide.
