Providence Presents: Minute Meditations

Prayer Opportunities

Week of May 17

Ponder:  In Sunday’s gospel choices (Mark 28:16-20 & Jn:17-1-11), Jesus prays for the disciples, reminds them that he will always be with them, and sends them out to bear witness to the love they have experienced in sharing his mission.

  • How do your actions express love…among those you serve? …within your family? …with friends or colleagues?
  • What loving actions do you notice/receive? How do you respond?

Praise:  Psalm 27 “I am sure I will see God’s goodness…” and/or

Psalm 47 “God goes up with shouts of joy…”

  • Where do you witness God’s goodness? How? What’s your response?
  • What kindness might you express so another can experience God’s goodness?

Week of May 24 – PENTECOST

Ponder:  In Sunday’s gospel (John 20:19-23), Jesus extends peace and empowers the disciples with a blessing of the Holy Spirit.

  • Recall a time you received a blessing. What do you remember of the words, the actions, the feelings? Savour the memory. Be strengthened by it.
  • How might you inspire/empower/bless others?

Praise: Psalm 103 “Send forth your Spirit and renew the face of the Earth…”

  • How might the way you live, perform your role, or do your job “renew” the face of the Earth…be life inspiring or a peaceful expression for others and/or for yourself?
  • What are some renewals (big or small) you pray for … at home, at work, in the community, in the world?
  • What or who inspires/empowers/blesses you?

    The Labyrinth

We are all on the path . . . exactly where we need to be. The labyrinth is a model of that path. A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path.
