The Sisters of Charity of Providence of Western Canada, Edmonton, Alberta

The Sisters of Providence are looking for a Director of Finance.  This is a great opportunity working for a well-established values-based organization.  The primary responsibilities include:

·         Overseeing the full cycle accounting for all corporations and societies

·         Overseeing the monthly financial reporting including variance analysis

·         Supervising the monthly consolidation process and reviewing the consolidated financial statements

·         Overseeing the external audit process

·         Leading the annual and long range financial planning/budgeting processes

·         Overseeing the investment portfolio and performing all related accounting entries

·         Reviewing/preparing/filing charitable returns and ensuring the protection of charitable status

·         Keeping current with accounting standards for non-profit organizations and government regulations for charities

·         Supervising 3 staff

The ideal candidate:

·         Is a designated accountant with at least 3-5 years of post-designation experience

·         Has knowledge/experience with Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations

·         Enjoys working for an organization that wants to help others and make a difference

·         Has supervisory experience
