Meet the Team

Kathy Budgell

Kathy Budgell has worked in a variety of situations gathering experience which has prepared her for her position as program assistant. She finds great satisfaction in helping people have an enriching experience while at Providence Renewal Centre. She comes from a Lutheran background and has been very active in her home church and its women’s organization. Her greatest loves outside work and church are her family and music.


Debbie Doornbos

Debbie Doornbos is a native Albertan with a Bachelor of Theology degree from Newman Theological College. She is a professional facilitator and experienced retreat leader with special interest in small faith communities, life transitions, and helping others deepen their spirituality. An avid outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys hiking, canoeing, and walking. Recently she spent a year in Ottawa where she completed a clinical pastoral education unit at St. Paul’s University.


María Z. García

Working at Providence Renewal Centre for over seventeen years, more than half of it working at the facility department, Maria is always ready to offer services in Spanish and in English. Excellence in customer service is one of her strengths; she is an award winner from Edmonton Tourism.


Catharine King

Catharine King, MBA, is the Executive Director of the Providence Renewal Centre. She oversees all aspects of the Centre and enjoys supporting her team in all their endeavors. Catharine and her team aspire to provide you with service excellence. Whether it be a professional development day for your team, a conference for your organization, or a spiritual growth opportunity, we are here to serve. Catharine has an extensive background in project and operations management, strategic fulfillment and business development, research and evaluation, facilitation and public speaking. Her background is rounded out with expertise in education technology, cyber infrastructure, video conferencing, event planning, athletics, and music. In her leisure time, Catharine enjoys recreational sports, speaking Spanish, the symphony, hiking, and travel.


Jocelyne Marple

Jocelyne Marple is a native Edmontonian who joined Providence Centre after 15 years in the banking industry. After 10 years supervising the Reception Department she transferred to Providence Renewal Centre, first acting as Registrar and then Facility Coordinator. She enjoys working with clients planning a variety of events from one-day workshops to week-long conferences. She loves being able to showcase our beautiful centre to prospective clients. Jocelyne and her husband John have just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and have a daughter in Ottawa and a son in Edmonton. They are long-time volunteers in Pastoral Care and like to golf and travel. In her quieter moments, Jocelyne is an avid reader and enjoys walking and cooking.

 
Carol Sebastian

 
 Carol Sebastian is a lifelong learner dedicated to discovering God's presence in life as it unfolds. She holds a BA from St. Mary's University in Calgary and is trained in spiritual direction. With a passion for people and building community, Carol volunteers at Common Ground Community Café in Sherwood Park and at Ten Thousand Villages on Whyte Avenue. She is excited to be working with the Program Team at Providence Renewal Centre to provide opportunities for spiritual nourishment for people of all faiths and at all stages of life. Email


Crescenthia Silveira (Cressy)

Crescenthia Silveira (Cressy) has been with the Providence Renewal Centre for the past five years working in the capacity of Receptionist. Besides greeting the people who come through the doors of the Providence Renewal Centre, she also takes care of booking parlours for individuals who would like to come on a day retreat, or just come to meditate and spend a day in prayer. She also books parlours for small groups. If you should need to do an overnight retreat or a week long retreat, call her and she will gladly book you into our Sacred Space for a quiet and peaceful stay.
